Jean Burg, a young pastor with a faith as pure as it is unshakeable, is appointed to a mountain village to replace Pastor Bouvier, a local man who was much loved by his parishioners. Jean Burg is obsessed with purity and divine punishment. His first sermon, uncompromising in tone, provokes hostile reactions among the villagers.
